Electricity helping those living at Grand Parade encampment in Halifax
Half of the homeless encampment on the Grand Parade in Halifax entered the new year with electricity. Having electricity allows those who live there to charge their phones, heat their space and have light after dark.
This gives them a sense of independence. "Being in a space of 36 square meters, dark walls, if there is no light, it's in total darkness," says Matthew Grant, a volunteer at Grand Parade.
This city is paid for 20.
