OFS rescues 3 dogs from apartment fire in Lowertown
The Ottawa Fire Department says three people were rescued from an apartment fire in Lowertown Sunday night.
"Two of the dogs became unresponsive and firefighters began CPR on both and administered CPR to all three," OFS said on social media.
All three were handed over to the owner, OFS adds.
The fire department was called at around 19:12. to a report of a fire in a high-rise building in the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue. Crews arrived two minutes after the initial call and confirmed the fire was on the seventh floor
After they determine the source of the fire is from the kitchen area, make sure it doesn't spread further by running a hose line to put it out.
They believe the apartment filled with smoke after the fire was brought under control at about 7:34 p.m. But they continued to search for its inhabitants. That's when they found the three dogs.
Occupants of the building were briefly evacuated and OC Transpo set up a bus shelter until the remaining smoke cleared from the structure and believed in its units.
