The King of England, King Charles III, was hospitalized
King Charles III was admitted to a private hospital on Friday to undergo surgery for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace announced.
The 75-year-old monarch was admitted to the London clinic where Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, had her tummy tuck.
Charles, who ascended the throne 16 months ago, was diagnosed with the benign disease on January 17 after developing unknown symptoms. King decided to announce this in advance of the surgery to encourage other men to check their prostates in line with public health advice.
Benign prostate enlargement is common in men over the age of 50 and is not usually a serious health threat. Surgery is usually recommended only when a patient experiences moderate to severe symptoms that do not respond to medication.
