The Quebec government will present its proposed contract to unions ahead of Sunday's strike.
MONTREAL - The Quebec government is expected to present a contract offer to public unions today ahead of a strike.
Several union federations representing about 430,000 workers have said they plan their first day of strike action for November 6, while 80,000 members of the nurses' union plan to strike on November 8 and 9.
Negotiations have been going on for months, with unions presenting their demands last fall and the government's initial proposals last December.
A group of unions that includes many of the affected workers is seeking a three-year contract with increases equal to the increase in the consumer price index plus two percent in the first year, with further increases in the second and third years.
The trade union group is going to react to the government's new proposal this morning.
