Toronto greenhouses reopen on Sunday night
The four municipal greenhouses start their operation when either the temperature reaches minus 5 degrees Celsius or the environmental organization issues a winter weather warning. On Sunday, the temperature was expected to drop to minus 6 degrees Celsius with the possibility of wind.
The addresses of these greenhouses are 136 Spadina Road, 75 Elizabeth Street, North York Greenhouse and 885 Scarborough Golf Club Road.
These greenhouses are open to people without prior appointment. If the capacity of these centers is completed, the municipality will direct them to another greenhouse.
Activists have asked the municipality to keep the greenhouses open 24 hours this winter due to the increase in homelessness.
The temperature threshold this year was reduced from minus 15 degrees to minus 5 degrees Celsius.
