Two Air Canada employees charged in theft of $22.5 million in gold from Pearson Airport
In the latest news from Canada, Peel County Police, in cooperation with the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), have arrested several people. This operation is related to the theft of gold worth 22.5 million dollars at Pearson Airport, which is known as the largest gold theft in Canadian history.
According to the investigation, two Air Canada employees were involved in this theft; One of them has been arrested and the other is wanted across Canada. The stolen gold was loaded onto a truck using a fake air waybill and then melted down for resale in local and international markets. Also, during the investigation, lists of debts related to drug trafficking were discovered, which showed how the money obtained from the sale of gold was distributed.
